As moms, we've mastered the art of multitasking. Whether it's juggling our kids' activities, household chores, or our own professional commitments, we manage it all. But what if we could add a source of passive income into the mix without it being another chore on our list?

That's why we are focusing on an established platform that can help you achieve a fun passive income stream – Creative Market.

How To Make a Passive Income with Creative Market

WHAT IS CREATIVE MARKET?

Creative Market is a platform that allows individuals to sell their digital design assets. This includes everything from fonts, templates, and graphics to themes and photos. As a contributor, you get to set your price and earn a commission every time your products are sold.

This marketplace can be a goldmine for those who want to add a touch of creativity to their work while earning a passive income. So, how do you transform your artistic skills into a steady income stream? I'll explain below.

Before we set you up with your Creative Market account to start making some passive income, let's discuss the pros and cons.

Pros:

  1. Passive Income Opportunity: Once you've set up your shop and uploaded your products, you can earn money even while you sleep.

  2. Wide Reach: Creative Market gives your products a global audience, increasing the chance of sales.

  3. You Set Your Price: Unlike some other platforms, Creative Market allows sellers to set their own prices.

  4. Free To Open A Shop: There's no cost to open a shop on Creative Market.

  5. Retain Ownership: Sellers on Creative Market retain ownership of their products.

  6. Varied Product Range: The platform allows a wide range of digital assets to be sold, such as fonts, templates, photos, graphics, and web themes.

  7. Community Support: Creative Market offers a robust community of designers, providing a platform for networking, collaboration, and mutual support.

Cons:

  • They take a big commission. They take a 40% commission on every sale you make. So, say you sell a font for $21, Creative Market takes $8.40, and you take $12.60.

BEFORE YOU OPEN UP YOUR CREATIVE MARKET SHOP

Discover Your Niche

The first step in creating a passive income stream with Creative Market is identifying your creative niche.

This platform sells everything from templates, photos, graphics, and fonts to web themes. So, whether you have a knack for designing adorable baby room wallpapers, a talent for crafting stunning invitations, or a flair for creating captivating blog graphics, there's a space for you. Discover what you love creating and how to leverage it on this platform.

Create Quality Content

Quality over quantity ALWAYS! You can pump out a ton of content, but if it's not high quality, it probably won't sell. And I don't want you wasting your time creating content that will just sit there. Spend time perfecting your craft and creating top-tier products.

If your work is high-quality, people are likelier to purchase, recommend it, and return for more. Make sure your designs stand out and serve the needs of your target audience. This helps to make the initial sale and can create a loyal customer base, an essential element for passive income.

I recommend creating and prepping at least 3-5 items for your shop before opening. That way, as soon as you open up shop, you will have items that can go Live!

Have a Portfolio or Shop Ready

I strongly recommend having an Etsy shop, Shopify store, portfolio, or something to show you are serious about using Creative Market. Before Creative Market, I had been selling on Etsy.

By creating Creative Market, I could expand my reach and, ultimately, my income stream. With that said, this is a crucial detail not to be overlooked.

The requirement to provide existing shop and portfolio links is more than a mere formality. Creative Market won't always accept you if you don't have something to show. Thus, if you aim to venture into selling on Creative Market, I recommend initially beginning with an Etsy shop before proceeding to request a shop on Creative Market.

This seems like a lot of extra work to set up another store, but it isn't. Since you already have your 3-5 products ready to sell, you'll need to quickly add them to your new Etsy store.

This information helps Creative Market ensure that your products meet their quality standards.

Step 2: Wait for Approval

  • After you submit your application, you will have to wait for approval from the Creative Market team. This could take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks. Once approved, you'll receive an email confirmation. Keep an eye on your promotions and Spam folders, as they sometimes sneak into one of those folders.

Step 3: Set Up Your Shop

Yay! You've been approved. Now, you can start setting up your shop. This includes choosing a shop name, uploading a profile picture, and writing a short bio that tells your potential customers about yourself and what you offer. Make sure to choose a memorable name that reflects what you sell. Your profile picture and bio should be professional and inviting. I highly recommend using Canva for this part. Canva already has templates you can work from, which makes it super easy.

Step 4: Upload Your Products.

  • You can start uploading your products now. You'll need to provide a title and description for each product and set a price. Since you most likely have already done this in your Etsy shop, this will be a case of copy-and-paste.

  • A good rule of thumb is to create compelling product descriptions that highlight the features and benefits of your product.

  • Attach high-quality product images that accurately showcase your product.

Step 5: Publish Your Shop

It's time to go Live!! Woohoo!!!

Once you're happy with your shop setup and product listings, you can publish your shop. Now, your products are available for millions of Creative Market customers to purchase.

HOW TO GROW YOUR SHOP

Market Your Shop

Marketing is crucial for your shop's success. Promote your shop and products through various channels like social media, blogs, or your personal website.

Remember, opening your shop is just the first step. Keep your shop updated with fresh products, engage with your customers, and continuously optimize based on your customer's feedback and needs. Good luck with your Creative Market shop!

Market Your Products

This is where your creative prowess comes into play. Use compelling images and descriptions to present your products. Show potential customers how your design can benefit them.

This could be through showing them how to use your products or how they can improve their work or personal projects.

Stay Consistent

Just because we're talking about passive income doesn't mean you can 'set it and forget it.

You must continue to upload new, attractive designs and update your existing ones based on user feedback and market trends. Staying relevant is key!

Engage With Your Customers

Customer interaction is pivotal in creating a successful business in Creative Market.

Respond to your customer's queries promptly and professionally. Request feedback, follow up on purchases, and maintain a positive customer relationship.
